Day One: Arrival at Villa San Andrea, a Belmond Hotel

Your journey begins with an arrival at Villa Sant Andrea, a Belmond Hotel that is also part of the Virtuoso network of properties.  This charming 19th century hotel is set against the backdrop of the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.  The hotel’s luxurious accommodations, impeccable service and breathtaking sea views will make you feel like you’ve entered a dream.  Spend your afternoon relaxing by the pool or taking in the stunning scenery from your room’s balcony.  Don’t forget to indulge in authentic Sicilian cuisine at the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Ristorante Sant’ Andrea – one of the most revered Taormina restaurants with striking seas views.  Enjoy an evening stroll through the historic streets of Taormina that are beautifully illuminated during the evening.  Stop by a café for a cocktail and cannoli or scoop of your favourite gelato.

Day Two: Vintage Train Ride to Mount Etna Wineries

Wake up to a delightful breakfast at Villa Sant Andrea before embarking on a unique adventure. Take a vintage train ride to explore the wineries near Mount Etna. The ride offers an incredible opportunity to witness the natural beauty of the region while enjoying some of Sicily’s finest wines.

Campore’ Wine:  Your first stop is Campore’ Wine, where you’ll have the chance to sample some of their delicious local wines.  Originally the estate owned by the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele II passed by donation to Cavalier Giovanni Vagliasindi and then went by inheritance, until the purchase by the Madaudo family in 2016.  The Campore project undertaken by the two young entrepreneurs is aimed at giving back to the estate and to the ancient millstone the original value of a place conceived and organised for the production of wine.

Taste the volcanic wines that are unique to the region while learning about the winemaking process in the shadow of Mount Etna. Pietradolce was established in 2005 and found it’s home in Solicchiata, an area within the district of the Sicilian hill town of Castiglione di Sicilia on the Northern slopes of Etna.
